Curry County has a lot of hidden gems to explore. If you are looking for an easy level hike to do with your family then, try the Francis Schrader Old Growth Trailhead about 2 miles up the Rogue River from Gold Beach in the Siskiyou National Forest.
This trail is roughly a 1 mile loop of gentle slopes. It is an interpretive trail with numbered stopping points for a self guided tour you follow along in a brochure you pick up at the trailhead. There are an abundance of flora and fauna to be seen and a variety of geographic features to be learned about as you hike.
There are two picnic tables tucked away along the trail if you want to pack a picnic lunch. Just remember to take it out again. Or stop by Sunset Pizza in Gold Beach on your way home. To learn more about the history of this trail and for directions follow this link: Francis Shrader Old Growth Trail.
